Collaborative Interactions:
Communication at this point is primarily via written form, beginning with the discussion board. Students are still in their own countries, so it is asynchronous, due to the time differences. They have not yet met each other. Communication via a written form is less intimidating, and allows students to get to know each other and reach out gradually, at their own pace. Students see communication forms expand, however, as the orientation progresses and students become more comfortable. Since they will be building profiles via social media sites, they will, if they choose, incorporate photos, music, videos, etc, getting very creative. If they so choose, they may arrange to talk to each other via phone, Skype, etc. However, audio/visual technology will not be incorporated into the design of the course, as it’s unknown what capability each student has, at this point.

• Moodle Forum posts: where assignments will be posted
• Linked-In: communication on professional/scholastic topics between students
• Facebook: Communication on personal topics between students
