Ryan Hakoda and Mike Andrews Final Cut Course

Course Goals: Final Cut Pro is a video editing software tool for making music videos, movies, documentaries, and slideshows. This course is intended for novice users with an interest in familiarizing themselves with the interface and basic features of the program.

Final Cut can be confusing to use with its complex interface and diverse set of options for accomplishing basic editing tasks. This course will allow the user to save time by going over numerous tricks and special techniques to make editing as easy as possible, allowing them to focus on their creativity in making a great movie.

Course Objectives: At the end of this course, the user will be able to perform these tasks in Final Cut Pro or Express:
• Organize footage so they can map out all of the resources they need to edit the final movie.
• Use shortcuts in selecting a specific editing tool from memory rather than using the mouse.
• Adding and adjusting audio tracks so that the volume is consistent throughout the video.
• Apply transitions to both video and audio so the video flows smoothly with no glitches.
• Insert titles so they are not distracting to the viewer.
• Render footage in timeline to be able to view edited footage.
• Utilize time code to find exact frames to edit and view.
• Create special effects that are appropriate for the given scene in a video.
• Layer and crop footage so the media is transparent to each other.
