Tools we will use:

Lesson - Module (Module 1) - Students will follow an online tutorial for designing paragraphs. Instruction will be provided on indentation, choosing a topic, organization, introductory paragraphs, topic sentences, supporting details, and closing paragraphs.

Quiz - (Module 1) - The quiz will be multiple choice. It will ask questions about proper orgnanization and will have sample paragraphs to identify topic sentences and supporting details. It will test for understanding of supporting details and topic focus.

Wiki - (Module 2) - Groups will work to create and edit a narrative composition through a wiki. Students will be creative when collaborating to discuss prior knowledge, understanding after reading course material, and finalizing their study with an individual visit to a local site, appropriate to the field of study.. in this case heros and public service workers.

Glossary - (Module 2)- While working on the Wiki, students will contribute at least 3 words to the class glossary.

Forums (Module 3) - Students will respond to given literature through the literature response forum. They will use critical thinking skills to discuss and post thoughts about characters and events of stories while relating them to their own experiences or knowledge of the world.

Blogs (Module 4) - Students will create summary blogs of their readings for the year. Other students will use these to choose books to read and respond to the accuracy of the summary.
