Course Goals:
This course will enable students to understand how a television newsroom operates. It will also enable them to gain broad knowledge about the various jobs performed within the television news industry and what those jobs entail. Students will put together an actual TV newscast rundown.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course the students will be able to:
* Understand newsroom terminology
* Navigate through the various sources that will provide you with news content
* Differentiate between what’s newsworthy and what’s not
* Skillfully handle the stresses of the job, most importantly breaking news
* Understand the importance of each job in the newsroom and how the work flows from the beginning of the day through the end of the newscast.
* Create a television news rundown
