In order to achieve the type of learning space described in the article, it would be extremely important for people to be able to see each other face to face more often. In our distance Master’s program we have not had much “face-to-face” communication. While we have had some, ours has mostly been communicating through dialogue. It would be great if all students could participate in some type of video conferencing. A student can read a lot on a person’s or instructors face that does not always come across in an environment where one can merely hear an exchange instead of seeing it.

Secondly, the use of mobile devices in a course would be helpful. So many of us spend a lot of time on our i-Phones that we have learned to do a number of things that many of us would not have dreamed could have been possible. Professor Minjuan Wang showed us universities in China that utilized mobile phones in their classes. I have not heard of this in the United States yet.
