The LMS of the future would include attention to the following components:
1. Personalized Attention – The LMS of the future would allow for specific one-to-one interaction with students who require assistance with any part of the curriculum. Additionally, this LMS would allow for an opportunity for students to interact with one another around course content.
2. National Database of Similar Content – The LMS of the future would allow for subject matter experts to exchange ideas around course content. Students and instructors could call upon this database for an exchange of ideas.
3. Synchronized Student Information – The LMS of the future would allow students to have all relevant information readily accessible. This would allow students to log in to one portal that allows them to determine where they are on the course continuum (i.e., courses they have taken vs. the ones they haven’t). Additionally, this portal would send out automated reminders/updates on pertinent dates/information.
4. Integrated Reflection Component – The LMS of the future would allow for student reflection that would inform others about the course (i.e.,What was learned? How will the information of the course inform practice?, etc.)
