The following deliverables were designed for, and integrated into the course, The American Civil War, 1861-1865.
Forum Post
Students will be required to make one forum post to be delivered during lesson one. They will also be asked to reply to two other posts by their peers. These posts will be used to evaluate student understanding of the differences in political and economic thinking by both sides at the outset of the war. The original post is to be made in class and the two follow-up replies should be made for homework and completed prior to the next session.
Essay
After completing session three, students are to use the material developed in an in-class pre-writing activity to write a one page essay discussing the necessity for the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation and how that affected the end of the war. The essay is to be completed for homework and students will upload it to the Moodle prior to session four.
