Basic Principles of Learning Theory
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
•Identify important historical and theoretical contributions to the field of education
•Discriminate between a diverse array of learning theories and discuss the strengths
and shortcomings of each
•Apply various learning theories to improve classroom management and motivation
•Analyze, dissect, evaluate, and improve lesson plans to make them theory based
and developmentally appropriate
•Design integrated, child centered lessons that support student investigation,
autonomy, and development
