Course name: Exercise Your Options
Course goals: With the implementation of the USDA's new food guide pyramid called "My Pyramid", today's learner needs to become familiar with this resource to better manage their eating habits and have the opportunity to make healthy choices when it comes to diet and exercise.
Course objectives:
1. Students will utilize My Pyramid to identify food items that belong to each of the five food groups.
2. Students will describe the appropriate amount (# of servings) and serving size for each of the five food groups.
3. Students will analyze the nutrition label to determine the caloric and nutritional value of the foods and beverages they consume.
4. Students will complete a food diary that documents all food and beverages consumed for one week.
5. Students will use a decision making process to evaluate daily food intake for nutritional value.
6. Students will review the food diaries of three peers and respond to the prompts on the class wiki.
