A quiz Module will be used in Week Two of the course to assess the participants’ ability to identify effective questioning strategies, as well as their ability to apply their knowledge of questioning to novel situations. This quiz, which will contain multiple choice and open-ended questions, will allow participants to gauge their current understanding of questioning techniques and to practice their skills using various fictional scenarios. Based on their performance on the quiz, participants may choose to review the introductory class in Week 1 and/or explore additional resources, such as articles, websites, and video clips, that will be available on the Moodle site
The participants' performance on the quiz will provide them valuable feedback on their level of understanding and the degree to which they can apply it to novel situations. Since the quiz will expose them to a variety of simulated situations, it will help them develop a broad perspective of questioning techniques and some nuances of applications to real life. Because the assessment appears at the middle of the course, students will be able to make decisions about how much more they need or want to know before venturing out in the final week where they actually incorporate the techniques into their own practice for the final assignment.
