Course Goals:
This course will enable informal science educators to gain a better understanding of questioning strategies and the relationship between effective questioning and the development of students’ higher-order thinking skills. Consequently, participants will increase their confidence in the effectiveness of their science teaching efforts.
Course Objectives:
By the end on this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify effective questioning strategies based on relevant science education research
- Analyze their practices and gauge the level of questioning in their own instruction
- Reformat an existing activity or program to incorporate effective questioning techniques
