1: Students will listen to a story "All About Seeds." Students will then be given a lima bean soaked in water. With a magnifying glass they will study the leaf inside the seed. They will then write and draw their observations.
2. Students will make a sprout glove in small groups, growing their own seeds.
3. Students will learn about the parts of a plant, they will draw and label the parts.
4. Students will observe their sprout gloves and write observations in their journal.
5. Read, "Growing Vegetable Soup," as a reflection students will draw pictures of things plants need to grow.
6. Read "From Seed to Plant," students will create a life cycle map of how a seed grows into a plant.
7. Students will put celery in colored water. They will watch as the water moves up the stalk. They will draw and write about their observations.
8. Students will observe flowering plants, discuss observations.
9. Students will cut and paste a pop-up flower garden from colored construction paper.
10. Each student will write a page for a class book, called The Important thing About Plants.
11. Students will bring edible plants to share with the class.
