Callaway Assessments for Basic Geography Skills

Type of assessments & how they will assess student performance -

The deliverables for the course will be assessed as follows:
Students writings in blogs and wikis will be assessed based only on participation.
Journal writing will be assessed for completeness and accuracy of content. Writing skills will no be evaluated.
The acrostic poem will be assessed based on completeness and correct use of countries and cities.
The map will be based on completeness, accuracy, and quality of the presentation.

There will also be quizzes to test for knowledge of the content. The quizzes for section one would be:

* Labeling the continents on world map (I picture having the world being viewed, if possible, from different hemispheric perspectives each time the quiz is administered as this often confuses students)
* Identifying on a labeled map which entities are continents, countries, or cities. At the conclusion of the quiz, they must defend their responses by explaining the reasoning behind them.

The quizzes for session #2 will include:

* Identifying a series of maps as political, physical, special purpose or a combination.
* Reading information correctly off a series of maps
