Aside from the forum and wiki deliverables, student knowledge will be assessed during the first lesson via a Quiz. This quiz is designed to measure content gained related to graphing quadratic equations.
Assessment: Quiz – Graphing Quadratics
In the first lesson, students will be participating in a powerpoint presentation that explains concepts and provides guided practice examples. Immediately following this lesson, they are to take a quiz on the content of the module. This would be an in-class assignment, and would most likely take place in the computer lab. This deliverable would be the first of three component scores making a summative total score for all three lessons.
Contentwise, the quiz is broken into three main sections:
1. Students describe what each of the following four terms means (in own words): Vertex, Axis of Symmetry (AOS), Roots, y-intercept
2. Given three different graphs, students identify the four parameters listed above for each parabola
3. Given a list of the four parameters for a single parabola, recreate the graph using computer graphing software
Students will be scored for all three parts using the Quiz tool in Moodle, and assigned a final score out of a certain number of points possible. This score will be the first component of three to determine the final score. The other two are the forum and wiki deliverables, which come in the two lessons after the Quiz.
