Module 1 Assessment: Map Test
Students will be required to take a map test based on their knowledge of the American states. They will have three chances to get 100% correct for this exam. This test will be given after students have watched video on why states have the specific shapes they do, blog about study skills they used in preparing for the test as well as study and prepare on their own using online resources. The test challenges students to place states in their proper place.
As stated above, students will have three chances to take the test to get the best score possible. If they score 100% on the first attempt, they will obviously not need to take the other two.
One of the keys to any US history course is geography. In that sense, students need to have knowledge of where states are and why they are their specific shape.
Module 2 Assessment: Political Cartoon Analysis
Students will be required to analyze political cartoon created by other students. The topics of the cartoons will either be US imperialism or WWII. Students will use the cartoon analysis tool provided at: http://www.archives.gov/education/lessons/worksheets/cartoon.html This will make it easier for the students to stay focused on their critiques. Students will be graded on the depth and breadth of their critique and analysis.
Module 3 Assessment: Questions based on "Crash" document
Students will be required to read and answer a series of questions based on a primary source document. The reading describes first hand accounts of how the Great Depression affected Americans. The questions require a careful reading of the document and then developing an opinion of the content. Students will be graded on the accuracy of their answers as well as the depth of their responses.
