Academy of Finance Moodle Course - Description of Content

This course will be set up for the juniors and seniors in the Academy of Finance program at teh School of Business at San Diego High. This is a club at the school, yet we meet once a week iduring a 50 minute Advisory period, when they would be using this Moodle course site.

The two modules I will be setting up in the course are as follows:

Module 1 - Job Shadows
Each year, students go on two job shadows to local businesses, once in the Fall and one in the Spring. As my objectives state, students will log in to Moodle to see a wiki of past students' jonb shadow experiences in order to select their top four choices of the two job shadows they wish to go on during the current year. Once they have been on a job shadow, they will return to the Moodle site and add to the wiki for that business about their experience.

Module 2 - Internships
Each summer after completion of their junior year, students are able to select to interview for a paid summer internship at a local business. As my objectives state, students will log in to Moodle to see a wiki of past students' internship experiences in order to select their top four choices of the internships they wish to interview and apply for an opporunity to work. Once they have completed a summer internship, they will return to the Moodle site and add to the wiki for that business about their summer internship experience.

This will aid the students in getting a better vision about what actually happens during the job shadow and internship experiences. In the Moodle site there will be links as well to the business sites, though the wiki's will give a more real student perspective of what occurs. In addtion, as students are very different from one another, the use of the wiki will allow students to see multiple entries of opinions from various students, as some may be positive and others negative.
