The LMS must meet a number of factors in order to be effective:
1) Personal needs - it must help the learner be motivated by relating to the learners life, establish connection, develop attitude, and enhance meaning.
2) Comprehensiveness - it must serve several departments and functions
3) compatibility - must work with existing software
4) scalability - has to accomodate changing needs swiftly and painlessly
5) Longevity - must be a company with lasting power and not fly by night
6) Cost Structure - meets the needs of company budget
7) Infrastructure - can it integrate in existing information infrastructure
8) electronic commerce capability - can it keep track of commerce transactions
9) Instructional features - do they meet needs of company
10) Technical support - is it available and useful
